“Understanding the ‘whole picture’ enables everyone involved (agencies, families/ whānau) to work together to achieve the families/whānau desired goals, resulting in them feeling stronger, more connected to, and supported by their communities.”
My first visit to New Zealand was in the 90’s with a backpack!! Life changing: Moved from UK to NZ in 2009, complete with husband, three children and Spot the family dog.
My passion lays in the roots of Social Justice, in promoting equity, access, participation and rights. To feel/be heard, respected, and acknowledged for the strengths and resilience all individuals have.
During my ‘many’ years of working in various community/social work roles in the UK and in New Zealand, I am privileged to have been able to support incredible people who have allowed me to join them on part of their journeys.
The Strengthening Families role enables me to provide families/whānau co-ordinated access to services while building on the families/whānau strengths, goals, and dreams. My role ensures that this stays the focus throughout the process.
